GONetwork & SEEDS Winners Collect Grand Prizes

The 2007 GONetwork and SEEDS Big-Buck contests came to a close on Aug. 9 at the Outdoor Blast.

Robert Pace of Stockbridge was the grand-prize winner in the GONetwork To Win Big Buck Contest. Robert drove away from the Macon Coliseum in a Chevy Colorado from John Megel Chevrolet in Dawsonville.

In all, 44 GONetwork members from 44 districts were represented in the drawing. Each member killed the best-scoring buck from their district, which qualified them for the last-man-standing drawing that involved pulling numbered tennis balls from a tumbler. The last tennis ball in the tumbler had the number 10 written on it, which was Robert’s, who represented District 10.

Members who sign up for a GONetwork membership are put into a district. That district matches state senate districts. Hunters must be members of the GONetwork before killing a deer to be entered in the contest.

The 2007 SEEDS Big-Buck Contest came to close the same evening.

Matthew Price II, 11, of Ellabell won the grand prize, a deer-hunting trip to Texas where he’ll be allowed to shoot a trophy buck, hogs, turkey, a host of small game and go bass fishing.

This all-expense paid hunting trip includes air-fare, licenses, lodging and meals. It's being sponsored by Flies & Fletching, Arrowdynamic Solutions and country-music singer Roland Whitt.

This five-day dream trip will take place in December. A cameraman, who will act as a hunting guide, will be hunting with Matthew and his parent or guardian. At the end of the hunt Matthew will be given a DVD of the adventure.

The 2007 sponsors awarded a second-place prize, and it’s a real generous one.

The runner-up in the tennis-ball drawing was David Roney, 13, of Vienna. David will hunt the same ranch and can shoot three does, one spike buck, hogs, turkey and small game. The hunt will also last five days and take place in December.

Twenty-nine SEEDS were in the drawing, and they all received a goody bag stuffed with hunting supplies, compliments of Flies & Fletching, Arrowdynamic Solutions and Roland Whitt.
