Opposition to the Attack Against Ammunition

One behalf of the conservation groups listed below and the sportsmen and women of Georgia, we write to ask for protection from political assaults on constitutionally protected rights regarding firearms and ammunition.

Recently, several pieces of legislation have surfaced that are all aimed at attacking in one form or fashion, bullets. These bills are thinly veiled attempts to eliminate ammunition from the market place and to raise the regulatory bar so high as to effectively ban private ownership or manufacture of ammunition.

The removal of ammunition from the marketplace by legal hurdle and oppressive regulation or penalties as to ownership and trade denies sportsmen the federal guarantee to keep and bear arms.

Additionally, these offensive laws and regulations would deny sportsmen the exercise of our Georgia constitutional right of traditional hunting methods.

Once such law introduced this session in the Senate is SB 12. Of the 1,532 sportsmen who provided an opinion on bills like SB 12, a landslide 1,433 opposed this sort of legislation.

We ask that you take to heart the concerns of these sportsmen, your fellow Georgians, and that legislation that would negatively impact the constitutional rights of Georgians be denied passage in your chambers.

Thank you for your attention and help in this effort.

Sincerely,
GONetwork
