GONetwork to Win FAQ

Who is eligible to enter the GONetwork to Win Big Buck Contest?
In order to enter a deer in the GONetwork contest, you must be a member of the Georgia Outdoor Network (GONetwork) AND be a paid subscriber to GON Magazine before you kill a deer.

Becoming a GONetwork member gives you the tools to network with sportsmen concerned about the future of hunting and fishing. It also gives you a chance to win two trucks.

If your spouse is a GONetwork member and GON magazine subscriber, you are also eligible to enter a deer.

Who will I compete against in the GONetwork to Win contest?
You will only be competing against other GONetwork members in your district. When you sign up for a GONetwork membership we’ll need your primary residential address.

This way we can group you into a GONetwork district, which mirrors your Georgia state Senate district.
Since many of us hunt away from our homes, you don’t have to kill a buck inside your district to be eligible to enter a deer in the GONetwork contest. For example, if you live in Augusta and travel 150 miles to Piedmont NWR and kill a buck, you will enter that buck in your district.

GONetwork is still in its infancy. As of September 1, there were just 1250 members. Think about that... you may be in a district with just a few other people. You kill a 4-pointer, enter it and nobody else signs up or enters a deer for your district. You just became eligible to win a Chevy Colorado.

What if I don't live in Georgia - can I enter a deer?
There are 57 GONetwork districts - 56 Georgia districts and 1 NonResident district (District 57). District 57 allows non-resident GONetwork members who kill a deer in Georgia to enter the contest.

Can I enter both contests?
Yes. In fact, if you’re entering the GONetwork contest, you’re already a GON subscriber, so you might as well enter both contests. All online entries are automatically entered in both contests.

How do I enter once I shoot a deer?
There is only one entry form for both contests. That application is in the August, September, October and November issues of GON. You can also enter online (recommended!) using the online entry form.

We’ll need some photos, so shoot an entire roll of film of you and your deer. Take photos from all angles. Next, write a one-page story of your hunt. If you’re entering both contests using the magazine entry form, mail only one set of photos and one hunt story along with the application. If you’re entering online, you will need to upload your three (3) best photos in digital format.

How does the scoring work?
All bucks for both contests will be scored at the same time and location. Your buck will receive one score, and that score will be used for both contests.

How does my child enter a deer?
A child is eligible to enter when he or she is both a SEEDS member and either a GON subscriber or a dependent of a GON subscriber.

What is a SEEDS member?
In order to generate interest in youth hunting, GONetwork has created a SEEDS category in the GONetwork contest.
SEEDS is a youth program under the GONetwork umbrella that is for kids 17 years old and under.

When a SEEDS member enters a deer, they become eligible to win the GONetwork Grand Prize - the Chevy Colorado. They're also eligible to win the SEEDS Grand Prize - the dream deer at Little River Plantation, along with a bow, a muzzleloader, a pair of new boots and a set of camouflage.

When do I collect my new truck?
The truck and SEEDS prize package will be given away after a drawing. Those dates will be announced later this fall.
